Uniform
At West Heath Primary School, we follow an Always Active uniform, helping our pupils stay comfortable and ready for an active school day. The only item required to have a school crest is the school hoodie or zipped hoodie. Our dress code items are listed below:
SCHOOL UNIFORM (PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS)
- School hoodie or school zipped hoodie in school rainbow colours and with the school crest
- Plain black joggers or leggings (no logos)
- Plain black knee length shorts or plain black knee length skort (no logos)
- Plain white round neck t-shirt(no logos)
- White, or black socks
- Black trainers
- Black headscarf (hijab) -where appropriate
- Warm waterproof coat
- Sunhat for warm weather
PE Variation
Indoor and outdoor games – no variation to the school uniform.
Headscarf (hijab) must be tucked in during PE lessons.
Gymnastics
- Plain black knee length shorts or tight black leggings (no logos)
- Tracksuit bottoms will not be permitted during gymnastics.
- Bare feet – no footwear or socks.
Outdoor PE/Sport
- Suitable coat, waterproof jacket.
- Warm hat, gloves (where appropriate)
- Sun hat for warm weather
Swimming
- One- piece swimming costume (girls)
- Swimming trunks (no knee length shorts) boys KS2.
- Swimming towel
- No Jewellery
- Long hair must be tied back
- Bare feet no footwear
Optional items
- Suitable sized bag for carrying a lunch box, water bottle and reading book (KS2 only)
- Washable lunchbox for children with packed lunches (KS2 only)
- Small pair of stud earrings if a child has pierced ears. (Must be removed for swimming)
- Analogue watch where a child is learning to tell the time or can tell the time.
EARLY YEARS additional items
- Waterproof clothes which can be put on over their uniform. This could be a one piece or separate jacket and trousers.
- Wellington boots
- Change of clothes in a plastic bag
Makeup
- Make up (including nail varnish) is not permitted, this also applies to non- school uniform days and school parties.
- Children will be told to remove makeup should they wear it to school.
- False eyelashes and false nails are not permitted.
Jewellery
- Small pair of stud earrings for children with pierced ears.
- Analogue watch for children who can tell the time or who are learning to tell the time.
- See above for exceptions for swimming.
- Belly button rings will not be permitted.
- Facial piercings will not be permitted.
- Smart watches will not be permitted.
- Children will be asked to remove items of jewellery, which are not permitted.
Hair
- Long hair must be tied back for PE lessons including swimming.
- Mohicans, coloured extensions, tramlines, and patterned hair will not be permitted.
- Fashion hairstyles must be kept for school holidays and should be given time to grow out for the return to school.
- Large headbands and bows are not permitted. Children will be asked to remove the hair piece if appropriate.
Non- school uniform days
- Parents will be informed if there is a planned non-school uniform day.
- The rules for hair, jewellery, etc. will apply and children should not wear short tops which expose their stomach or shorts/skirts that are inappropriate length for school.
- All clothing must be appropriate to the age of the child.
- The headteacher reserves the right to give children items of clothing to cover their bodies if their outfit is inappropriate for school this includes inappropriate slogans.

West Heath Primary School expects ALL pupils to wear correct uniform all the time! If a child attends school without correct uniform, a strike will be issued in the child’s Passport to Success.
